Parents, check out this MICHIGAN ACTIVITY PASS (MAP) for things to do this summer.  Some give discounts or maybe free passes.  It gives directions.  You can search for places 25, 50, 100 + miles from here.
Beginning May 24, library users with a valid library card from any one of Michigan’s nearly 400 public libraries can print a pass, either from home or at the library, to one of the 70+ participating cultural institutions at the website.
Some cultural partners offer complimentary or reduced price admission; others, discounts in their gift shop or other exclusive offers for MAP pass holders only. Each Michigan Activity Pass expires one week from the date it is printed.
Each library will have five passes available per week for each of the participating organizations

Our SUMMER READING PROGRAM "Fizz Boom Read" was a great success.  We had 40 to 65 kids at each of our programs this summer.  Lots of happy kids enjoyed themselves at the Ice Cream Sunday Party on Aug. 9 winning prizes and Slappy the K-Wings Mascot joined us to present certificates for free K-Wings tickets this fall for the kids who earned them reading this summer.

Poetry & Prose people will be meeting as a private group, not sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  For more information call us.

STORYHOUR has begin every Tuesday at 10:30.  Call 665-7839 for more information.  Edith Swager is our Story Lady.

The Friends meet the third Thursday of the month at 4:00 at the Library.   Who are THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY ? - a group of wonderful people who do good things for our Library.  They have raised money to buy shelving, books and they help with the cost of programs (Summer, Christmas, Adult Programs) and many other things. In September they bought the Library 5 Light weight white plasic tables.  We love our Friends!  If you would like to make a donation to the FRIENDS OF THE GALESBURG LIBRARY they are a  501c3 Tax Free Organization.
